Diet & Nutrition

DIETS are individually designed for food allergies and sensitivities, gluten and dairy intolerance, candida, arthritis, diabetes, vegan, detox, weight loss, with menus and recipes. Diets are balanced for your metabolic type according to the principles of Ayurveda.

The Vital Role of Nutrition and Digestion in Overall Health

Our diet is fundamental to our health as our food nourishes us and supports and maintains all bodily functions. What we eat can keep us well or make us ill. Not only is our nutritional status vital for our physical wellbeing, it is also essential for our mental wellbeing. As well as having a nutritious diet, our digestive system needs to be working optimally so we can properly digest, metabolise, absorb and assimilate the nutrients, and also to eliminate waste products of digestion.

The first obstacle to digestion is an underactive stomach. Digestive enzymes in the stomach need to be activated by HCL secreted by the parietal cells in the stomach wall. Food allergies, iron deficiency and chronic candida can affect stomach acid production. Protein is digested in the stomach and requires an acid environment.
Bitter foods increase stomach acidity and aid digestion. Bitter receptors throughout the digestive tract releases the hormone CCK which releases pancreatic enzymes to digest carbohydrates and bile salts to digest the fats in the small intestine which requires an alkaline environment.

Intestinal permeability can predispose to candida infection and food allergies. While the stomach needs sufficient acidity for the digestive processes, the body’s cellular environment needs to be alkaline. When digested, red meat, sugar, refined flour, alcohol and coffee oxidise to acid ash, whereas leafy greens are oxidised to alkaline ash. During illness, the body is exhibiting an acute acid state, and an alkaline reserve is necessary to neutralise this and aid recovery.

A plant-based diet provides the prebiotic fibres which feed our gut microbiome, and a balanced diversity of gut microflora keep us healthy and combats infection.

Testimonials

“Lynne is very knowledgeable and experienced in natural health and how the human body works. I went to see Lynne with GI and low energy issues, she made up a digestive tonic and recommended a few supplements based on my set of circumstances, Within a few weeks the GI symptoms have disappeared, and I was feeling more energetic than I’ve been for a long time. I chose to see Lynne based on the good reviews and she has certainly lived up to them. Thank you Lynne!”
